Narrative Assessment - Literacy - 14 September 2015

Learner: Jeffa                     Learning Coach: Miriam Kamsteeg             Date: 14 Sept 2015
Learning Area: Literacy - Writing
Learning Observed
Today Jeffa was writing with me. He wanted to write “I watched Jurassic World”.
He started off writing “I”, then asked how to write “watched” I told him to sound it out, so he did. He then attempted to write “Jurassic world” by himself and put the full stop in. I then asked him what else he could tell me about it. He decided that he would write “I eat some food”. He started his second sentence, but then ran out of time to complete his story.
Evidence of learning

Jeffa is writing down many of the sounds he hears. I wonder if he is practising his writing at home?

Key Competencies/Vision Principles
Jeffa is developing his Capabilities in Writing. He is starting to be able to write independently (Managing Self). Jeffa is able to hold an idea in his head and write it down (Thinking). He is writing many sounds (Using Language, Symbols and Texts).
Next Learning Steps
  • Write two sentences in one writing session.
  • Continue to record down all the sounds he hears in words.
  • Share learning with home.
