We have been learning to add in detail by using adjectives, verbs, feelings and emotions in our writing. Our hapu have been working hard to include at least three different words to paint a better picture for our audience.
Jeffa is able to build his sentences into paragraphs. He has been learning to add more detail and ideas into his writing. Jeffa is beginning to show and identify examples of describing words, action words and feeling words in his writing.
He develops his curiosity by asking questions and is slowly making connections by using ideas discussed in a larger group. Jeffa collaborates with others by sharing his ideas during hapu discussions.
Key Competencies: Managing Self Thinking Relating to others Participating and Contributing and through the use of digital tools - using language, symbols and texts

In the new playground i went straight away to the wooden pole. There were five of them the two side poles were the easiest to climb, the second side poles were harder to climb, the middle pole was the hardest to climb. I saw everything i saw the slide i saw learners playing near the the water tape that pumps water. I barely saw the tunnel i climbed down and helped the learners make a water stream. Learner: Jeffa
Area: Maths Level 2
Date: 20.09.18
In Maths, we have been learning about Fractions. We know that fractions are a part or piece of a whole. We have been learning to identify fractions of shapes and numbers. When trying to solve fractions of numbers, we have been using our knowledge of multiplication and division to justify our answers.
Jeffa is developing his capabilities to solve fraction problems using his knowledge of multiplication and division facts. He is beginning to work collaboratively and listen carefully to others sharing their ideas. During small group teaching, Jeffa will ask questions when he is unsure about something. He is beginning to solve harder problems using what he knows about simple fractions.
Key Competencies: Managing Self Thinking Relating to others Participating and Contributing and through the use of digital tools - using language, symbols and texts
Next Steps:
Continue to practice your knowledge using Mathletics.
Keep practising your timetables to 10 and divided by facts.

Narrative: Jeffa and the Human Digestive System
Learner: Jeffa
Date: 20.08.18
Science Level 2
Living World: Recognise that all living things have certain requirements so they can stay alive
As part of our iExperience, we have been learning about 'How the Human Digestive System works'. We looked at the process of food and what happens when we eat. We learned about the organs and their functions. Through Kahoot and multichoice questions as well as a cut and paste activity we were able to learn about what our human bodies does to food and what we need to keep it healthy.
In this activity Jeffa is learning to develop his capabilities by matching the parts of the human digestive system to the right meaning. He develops his curiosity by listening carefully to the instructions and thinks carefully about his ideas. Jeffa also shows confidence when sharing with others. He is beginning to make connections by relating what happens when he eats certain foods and what it does to our bodies.

Art: Jeffa and Sketching
Learner: Jeffa
Area: Art - Visual Arts Level 2
Date: 20.02.18
In Art, some of the learners have been learning about drawing from their own perspective and what they can see. The learners chose a specific place inside the playground and had to sketch what they saw. We were practising sketching with different lines and looking at different shapes as well as shading. It was not an easy task but learners did try their best.
Jeffa has been practicing his capability by trying hard to draw from his point of view and what he saw. He showed curiosity by looking for the best place that suited him in the playground. Jeffa was able to work collaboratively with others by sharing space helping others if asked. He is beginning to make connections and use techniques already learned to help him with his learning.
Key Competencies: Managing Self Thinking Relating to others Participating and Contributing and through the use of digital tools - using language, symbols and texts
Next Steps: Practice sketching only what you see, practice shading, continue to look at objects from your point of view and interpret what you see
