Jeffa's Writing

Learner:  Jeffa   Learning Coach:     Caro Bush       Date: 10.03.15
Learning Area: Literacy
Learning Observed
I was working with Jeffa in the SLT office to try and increase the amount of written work he produced. His planning was a picture which he was able to talk about in great detail. Jeffa certainly has a lot of knowledge about caterpillars and butterflies. He pointed to the picture and described in great detail how the butterfly is curled up inside the chrysalis. We talked about what would make a good sentence to record under his picture. Jeffa decided to write “The very hungry caterpillar is asleep.” Jeffa was able to locate the words ‘the’ and ‘is’ on butterfly table tent and write them in the sentence. He could locate and record some of the sounds in the words in the sentence. We talked about how to finish a sentence and Jeffa placed the full stop in the correct place.
On the way out of the SLT office Jeffa excitedly pointed to a card, at the top of the shelving unit which had a picture of a butterfly on it. He told me that it was a Monarch butterfly - which is what he had drawn in his picture.
Evidence of learning
