Learning Observed
Jeffa brought a seed pod to school today. He asked if i knew what it was. I said that I did not, but that during iExplore time we could find out. He sat next to me and we had the ipad out. We discussed what shape it was - an oval. Then how long it was - about 2.5 cm. We typed in “Oval 2.5cm seed NZ” into Google. Then we clicked on images. We found a picture that looked like it and discovered that it was a milkweed seed pod. We then typed in milkweed seed pod and looked at the pictures. Jeffa pointed out all the monarch butterflies and caterpillars that were on the flowers. We saw pictures that looked like Jeffa’s seed pod and we had a look inside the seed pod and it looked the same as the pictures. So we found out that Jeffa brought a “Milkweed seed pod” to school.

Evidence of learning
Jeffa had found something and wanted to know what it was. He knew he could bring it in so we could explore together. I wonder if he will bring in more things to explore together?
Key Competencies/Vision Principles
Jeffa was interested in finding out about his environment and the things that are in it (Thinking). He showed Curiosity in that he was wondering what he had found. Jeffa wanted to work with a Learning Coach to find out the information (Collaboration).
